We are currently looking for a performance/fitness apparel designer to join our team!  The performance/ fitness apparel designer at Nike Swim will create designs for the performance water athletes. This designer will create seasonal concepts and color palettes that will reflect the Nike seasonal design direction.  A huge focus on the fit and performance silhouettes that will help the performance swim athlete/ or water fitness athlete get faster and stronger. They will work closely with the merchandising, development, technical designers and the sewers to create the best fitting silhouettes that work with the athletes movements and needs. They will be responsible for managing all new and carry over designs within the performance and fitness collections.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Design new silhouettes that are needed for the performance/ fitness collections from conceptual designs to the sample phase.  Ensuring product is consistent with the needs of the performance swim athlete/ or the water fitness athletes.
• Ability to pick relevant performance fabrics, trims and construction for the silhouettes that are needed.
• Create inspiration/ mood boards for print and color direction according to the Nike seasonal design direction.
• Know the marketplace and the Nike Swim performance/fitness athletes!  Market research (online and in stores) to identify seasonal trends within silhouettes, print and color. Focus groups with the marketing team and merchandisers to learn more about the athlete needs.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining illustrator images (wireframe and colored images) for CADS and tech sheets.
• Create and maintain all product tech sheets for the performance/ fitness styles for the technical designers and product developers.
• Attend fit sessions and be able to advise what necessary adjustments need to be done to perfect the fit of the garment. 
• Assist developers with approving fabric/trim lab dips and print strike-offs.
• Create print job request forms for the textile designer of any performance/ fitness prints that are needed.
• Assist with the GTM sales meeting (Presentations, sales tools, etc)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Skilled knowledge in Adobe CC software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).
• Experience in performance swimwear or technical bodywear fit and design
• In depth knowledge of working with prints and creating seasonal palettes/ colorways.
• Ability to create flat sketches (front/back/side) and detailed schematics (in illustrator)  to clearly communicate how the garment should be constructed/ or worn. Ability to color up sketches with fills and swatches.
• Excellent  organizational and communication skills .

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

• College degree in Apparel Design.
• 3 +  years of apparel design experience within the swim industry or technical bodywear industry.
• Advance skills in Adobe CC software.
