Perry Ellis International Hiring for ASSISTANT DESIGNER at Portland, Oregon Full Time

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are currently looking for an Assistant Designer to join our team in Portland, OR! 

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the Designer(s) with the conceptual development of the Nike Swim Performance Swimwear categories and preparing print, pattern and silhouette for line adoption. Will be responsible for creating and maintaining apparel tech sheets and graphic schematics for all categories. Assists the designers with administrative product design needs for the merchandising and technical design teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
     * Responsible for the entire design process from conceptualization through production of the Nike Swim Performance Swimwear categories.
     * Responsible for creating and maintaining illustrator images (wireframe and colored images) for CADS and tech sheets
     * Administer and follow up with the product design process to include preparation of technical sheets and graphic schematics, understanding of PLM process, email correspondence, and responsible for updating team of any style changes
     * Prepare basic flat sketch designs and responsible for InDesign CADing of multiple product swim lines.
     * Responsible for creating inspiration boards and mini boards for sales tools.
     * Responsible for managing tech hand-offs for Girls line and attending BOM reviews.
     * Maintain swim catalogs in InDesign.
     * Consumer knowledge and Insight.
     * Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands, and changes.
     * Strong familiarity with current trends. 
     * Attend fit sessions with lead designer(s) to take detailed notes and make necessary adjustments to CADS and tech sheets
     * Assists with basic specification of product.
     * Prepare artwork for graphics including but not limited to design and technical details.
     * Assist with market research to identify seasonal trends within silhouettes, print and color.
     * Maintain design booklets (CAD layout & tech sheets).
     * Help with trim, fabric and print sourcing and development.
     * Assist designers with approving lab dips and print strike-offs approvals.
     * Assist Textile Designer with all areas of print design: design, color-ups, print fills and checking repeats.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
     * Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
     * Basic knowledge of product, fabric, garment construction, design and color.
     * Ability to design/set-up artwork for trims and graphics.
     * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
     * Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment with multiple deadlines.
     * Highly organized and detail oriented.
     * Collaborative team player.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
     * College Degree in Fashion Design.
     * One year of experience (may include summer jobs, Internships, etc.)
