JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Purpose:

Provide overall management direction for all divisional functions. Responsible for the P&L of the business unit with greater than *6* *Revenue Units*

Key Relationships:

Internal

• Division Service Manager, Branch Manager, Area General Manager, Regional Vice President. Shop Mechanics
• Dispatch, Mechanics, Technicians, Laborers, Administrative Staff
• Sales

External

• Existing & potential customer base- focus on grinding and grooving Projects
• Industry Associations

Specific Role Responsibilities:

• Establish division objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy.
• Plan, staff, and supervise all division activities including personnel administration, performance review, defining functions, responsibilities, etc.
• Maintain positive financial posture for the division and monitor cost analysis activities on routine basis.
• Perform and direct research and client contract to identify potential projects (customers), and gain admittance to bidder’s list
• Maintain an effective business development program, securing new work on a routine basis. Division Managers will generally manage at least 2 sales staff
• Monitor overall quantity and quality of work performed by the division.
• Drive organization’s programs, policies, standards, and procedures consistent with corporate directive
• Assume additional responsibilities as required by the division’s operating needs or as directed by corporate directive

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Position has overall P/L responsibility and requires proficient business development, marketing, and sales skills
• 4 year technical or business administration degree and/or equivalent extensive experience in the construction (services) industry
• Experience in all aspects of planning and implementing sales strategy at a regional and enterprise wide platform, with grinding and grooving projects
• Technical sales skills, and estimating
• Proven experience in customer relationship management with private sector and public sector customers/clients
• Knowledge of market research in the transportation and/or construction industry, work with local city governments, CDOT, and airports
• May manage and direct a sales team of two or more
• Proven ability to perform in a management / leadership capacity in a matrixed organization
• Analyze the company operating plans and strategy to understand segmentation and the adopted practices by the company to improve these stats
• Required to conduct market research and analysis of the environment to identify markets, service differentiation, pricing structures and specialized competitive climate as needed
• Will assist in developing sales strategies, tactics and plans to achieve organizational sales goals and future revenue growth specifically with SGG work
• Meet the sales target within the given deadline, within the Regional territory, and accounts
• Highly beneficial to have active communications with Civil Contractors
• Seek out new customers, and sales opportunities to help build up the industry segment and meet growth objectives
• Prepare time, cost, equipment and labor estimates for projects. Develop budgets, schedules and plans for the project elements
• Establish and maintain proposal process, and conduct negotiations
• Effectively communicate and leverage reputation, value proposals, and company scale with different presentations
• Build up a better customer relationship, understand their needs, and make them satisfied without compromising with the company profits
• Travel across region as necessary to meet objectives
• Coordinate the sales operations with divisions within regions and all other departments of the company
• Establish and monitor sales performance goals for each team member to insure sales targets are being met, or if corrective action is required
• Manage the activities and performance of the sales team.
• Continuously provide feedback, support and coaching to the sales team.
• Plan and direct specialized sales training as required
• Drive the analysis and planning for personnel and equipment needs
• Own the logistics process to facilitate communication, coordination, and cooperation to ensure optimization of the company’s scale
• As necessary, acts as the Company representative with the client during the project execution. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client. Markets and secures additional work with client. Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project
• As necessary, oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan
• Mobilizes company resources, through liaison with support departments, Division offices, to create project teams capable of completing effective, profitable, quality work
• Discusses the qualifications required of the key project positions in specific detail with the division managers and department managers.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
• Union Labor Relations (as required) – basic principles of labor / management partnerships
• Sales & Marketing – includes marketing strategy and sales tactics, demonstration, sales techniques, including use of SalesForce.com
• Management of resources, analysis of budgets and related construction accounting; understanding of business financials (P&L) is required
• Human Resources – recruiting, interviewing, hiring, discipline/coaching/mentoring
• Construction Math – basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry; blue print/plan reading a plus
• Computer/Office Machines – Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook
• English – proficient in business writing and verbal communication
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required when duties require use of motor vehicle
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random screening for illegal substances
