Civils Technician

Location: Oxford

Salary: £28 000 – £36 000

Our client is a growing and well-respected property consultancy. They specialise in Civil and Structural Engineering as well as Transport Planning, Geomatics, Building Surveying and Highways Engineering.

This is a full-time permanent position.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Site appraisal and feasibility assessment
• Earthworks modelling
• Road Safety Auditing (Stages 1 to 4)
• Walking, cycling and public transport audit (WCHAR) and design
• Servicing / delivery design and management
• Highways design – local authority and private residential / commercial (S38 / 184 / 278)
• Vehicle swept path assessment
• Traffic calming and home zone scheme design
• Traffic Regulation Orders and Stopping Up Orders
• Flood Risk Assessments and flood compensation assessments
• Ordinary Watercourse Consent applications
• Drainage design and modelling (S106 / 104)
• CDM risk and mitigation assessment
• Utility assessment and impact negotiation (C3 & C4 estimates)
• Levels and external works design
• Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP)
• SuDS maintenance plans
• Road Restraint Risk Assessment Procedure (RRRAP)

Key skills:

• Strong motivation and initiative to work unsupervised as well as excellent communication skills to work as a part of a team
• Confidence to take responsibility for managing the technical and approval process
• Considerable experience working in civil engineering consultancy
• Using appropriate software (Civil 3D, AutoTack, Micro Drainage) to produce horizontal and vertical highway design and civil design

• Familiarity of highway planning procedures, including Section 38 / 278 Agreements, UK design principles and standards, including MfS and DMRB
• Knowledge of procedures relating to TROs and Road Safety Audits etc.
• Familiarity of drainage adoption procedures, including section 106/104, UK Design principles/best practice and standards including Sewers for Adoption and the SuDS Manual
• Good financial and commercial awareness
