Civil/ Structural Engineer – Highway Structures and Bridges – Cardiff

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 + benefits

A brilliant opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Engineer to join the talented Structures team of a highly-successful multidisciplinary consultancy which has a network of offices across the UK. Working as part of their dynamic Cardiff office you will provide general Highways Structures Asset Management support for various projects, coordinate with senior and junior staff and leading technicians, set up project delivery programmes and undertake Project Management support duties.

Working as a Civil/ Structural Engineer your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems and identifying options.
• Assuming both participant and lead roles in the design, inspection and assessment of major civil engineering structures and bridges.
• Designing projects in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridgeworks and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
• Ensuring compliance of the team’s work to Health and Safety and the application of CDM Regulations and other legislation.

In order to be considered for this Civil/ Structural Engineer position, you will:

• Have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or another related discipline accredited by the Engineering Council.
• Ideally be working towards achieving Chartered Member status or have recently achieved membership status.
• Have 2- 5 years of post-graduate experience in the design of any and all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction.
• Have good understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, Eurocodes, and Codes of Practice.
• Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the relevant legislation, standards, and procedures, as well as understanding of standard highway and civil engineering specification, conditions of contract and methods of measurement.
• Be organised, and able to demonstrate good time management.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a full UK driver’s licence.
