Position Summary

The Plant Accountant position is responsible for maintaining accurate records regarding the type, location, and value of the Cooperative’s distribution system assets in accordance with Rural Utilities Service (RUS) accounting guidelines. The Plant Accountant job duties include but are not limited to assembling cost data for work orders, maintaining fixed asset records, maintaining records for licensing of all vehicles, trailers, and equipment, establishing and maintaining inventory records, responsible for accounts payable, preparing and submitting RUS forms 219 and special equipment reports.

Education/Experience

• Accounting degree preferred, or closely related field
• Requires 1-3 years of accounting experience
• Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
• Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – particularly excel and word
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to prepare a variety of reports and paperwork with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. An understanding of the utility industry and RUS accounting is desirable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,990.00 – $92,323.00 per year
