Peirce College Hiring for Contract – Instructional Design Job at Remote Full Time

Peirce College was awarded the Predominantly Black Institute (PBI) Grant from the Department of Education. The project is designed to improve the quality of learning and promote a more engaging and interactive environment through the redesign of online courses, further strengthening the priority of achieving student success. We also aim to improve online course retention and completion by assisting students with online student support services and self­-service tools.
Scope of Work:
Peirce College is hiring an instructional designer to strengthen the delivery of new and current courses that have been redesigned to support students in foundational gateway courses and courses that will include open and affordable education resources. The primary responsibility of the instructional designer is to conduct Quality Assurance course reviews, overseeing the entire process from initial review through improvement implementation. This will require ongoing communication with the LMS Administrator, faculty, and the Quality Assurance team. The instructor designer will participate in orientation, team and individual meetings as appropriate for their role. Quality assurance course reviews will take a minimum of 5 hours to complete.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Ensures new course developments comply with Peirce College and Quality Matters standards

• Provide feedback to faculty from course reviews, providing opportunities for leverage course design

• Partner with the LMS Administrator & Instructional Design Specialist to ensure quality courses are delivered

• Conduct course reviews as assigned by LMS Administrator & Instructional Design Specialist

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and application of best practices using technology for teaching and learning, including but not limited to, web conferencing, learning management systems, and online collaborative tools.

• Ability to use Microsoft Office tools including, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

• Must possess a thorough knowledge of course management software, graphics and Web production software/hardware in an educational setting.

• Experience with D2L BrightSpace, Canvas, or other learning management systems, instructional graphic design, development and production concepts related to online coursework and material.

PREFERRED (DESIRED) SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Proficient (familiarity) with Canvas Learning Management System

• Proficient in using web conferencing tools such as Zoom

• Familiarity with Quality Matters online tool

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Education Technology, or equivalent field preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or relevant field required

• 2 years of experience with instructional technology or information technology to fulfill a variety of instructional needs

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
