SUMMARY:

This Software Test Engineer role is accountable for conducting functional, integrated testing across software product ecosystem at PEI-Genesis. They will test routinely the programs and integrations developed to ensure the software perform as expected for business outcomes. He/she will serve the organization as a subject matter expert on our software solutions, and act as a point of contact for related questions and escalated items. When all these tasks are performed well, it provides assurance over the quality and successful rollout of new applications and features, fixes to our existing software solutions.

The role will to the Technical Lead for Software Support and can be based in either our Philadelphia, PA, USA, or Southampton, Hampshire, UK locations. PEI sponsors a hybrid work environment at this time.

ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, create, plan, and execute test cases for smoke, regression, sanity testing
• Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines
• Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently
• Reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagram, and flow chart, to determine if program will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines.
• Recommends program improvements or corrections to programmers.
• Development and implementation of test plans specific for software and integrations.
• Identifies differences between establishment standards and user applications and suggests modifications to conform to standards.
• Sets up tests at request of user to locate and correct program operating error following installation of program.
• Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent re-occurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
• Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.
• Collaborate with development functional groups on technology changes.
• Performance of tests on the functionality of the software.

• Research and software bugs to the Development Department
• Performance of test duties for regression
• Use of query tools to verify test data
• Use and resolve Help Desk tickets to respond to production issues/setup requests/questions.
• Research, debug, recreate and log defects for all production support issues into JIRA project management system.
• Willing to travel to other offices, both domestic and international, as needed for special projects. For International travel must have the appropriate documentation/passport.
• May volunteer or be selected to serve on special committees, work groups or project teams related to various corporate initiatives. Initiatives may be specific one-time events (e.g., testing, upgrades) or ongoing activities.

TECHNICAL & MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES:

• Experience in different Testing methodologies such as: Functional testing, Regression testing, Integration testing, Exploratory Testing, System Testing, Security Testing, User Acceptance testing (UAT), Compatibility and Load testing
• Advanced PC skills, as well as being proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of query tools (Query 400, SQL), iSeries, green screen, RPG,
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting practices
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to recognize a problem or potential problem and react quickly and effectively.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other PEI employees.
• Ability to multitask, collaborate and work well within a team environment as well as work independently

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Degree from four-year college or university preferred; or minimum of five years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
