Pebbles Education have a fantastic opportunity for a Design and Technology Teacher to join our progressive and innovative school in Muirkirk, East Ayrshire.

The role and responsibilities of a Design and Technology Teacher

You will be a qualified Teacher of Design and Technology and you will encourage and inspire your students to gain vocational skills by designing and making practical items.

As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will deliver bespoke programmes that are tailored to each individual pupil.

The role offers you the ability to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people, aged 11 to 18, who have special educational needs.

We have a fully equipped design and technology workshop, and we provide Design and Technology as a key subject within our curriculum.

Our team of Teachers may also become involved in delivering therapeutic education online for individuals or small groups of pupils. This may include, music, yoga for trauma, CBT, massage therapy, art therapy, or other therapeutic approaches depending on your skillset.

Your role will be supported by an Executive Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and in-house team of forensic psychologists and care specialists.

• Educated to degree level with post graduate teaching qualification
• Full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland
• A good knowledge of safeguarding children and health and safety regulations
• A desire to work with pupils in an SEN environment

• A valid UK driving licence and ability to travel when required
• PVG enhanced, this check will be carried out upon appointment.

Desirable qualities that we look for

• Knowledge of theoretical approaches to ACEs, mental health, attachment, therapeutic parenting, etc. and able to apply to everyday practice.
• Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, or the desire to undertake professional learning to gain skills in this area.
