Post Title: Senior Inclusive Education Practitioner

Salary: Between £20,078 and £22,424 (SP1-6 pro rata)

Status: Permanent, full time (approx 44 weeks per year)

Reporting to: Education Manager

We are looking to appoint a Senior Inclusive Education Practitioner to join our enthusiastic and dedicated team at Snow Hill. The successful candidate will perform a key role in supporting students learning in all its aspects. As well as being hands on in the classroom, you will be responsible for developing learning within our support team and contributing towards the overall success of the school.

Responsibilities of the Role:

Planning:

Plan teaching to achieve progression in pupils learning through:

• Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed
• Setting tasks, including homework, which challenge pupils and ensure a high level of interest
• Setting appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils learning, motivation and presentation of work
• Setting clear targets building on prior attainment
• Identifying the needs of individuals and groups within the class, taking note of individual education plans and the requirements of the code of practice
• Making effective use of assessment information when planning lessons
• Planning opportunities to contribute to pupils literacy and numeracy, and to their personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development

Teaching and Class Management

• Establish and maintain a safe environment and purposeful working atmosphere which supports learning and in which pupils feel secure and confident
• Set high expectations for pupils behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships

• Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge
• Use a variety of teaching methods to:

• Structure information well, including outlining content and aims and summarising key points as the lesson progresses
• Instruct, demonstrate and give accurate, well-paced explanations using appropriate vocabulary
• Use effective questioning, listen carefully to pupils, give attention to errors and misconceptions

• Select appropriate learning resources and develop study skills through library, ICT and other sources
• Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught
• Critically evaluate teaching to improve effectiveness

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording & Reporting

• Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching
• Mark and monitor pupils work and set targets for progress
• Assess and record pupils progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving
• Prepare and present informative reports to the Senior Leadership Team

Vehicle Checks

• Ensure vehicle check sheets are available to staff using the vehicles.
• Ensure vehicle check sheets are completed to the necessary standard by all staff
• Counter sign each vehicle check sheet indicating the agreed return condition of the vehicle
• Carry out systematic weekly checks on each vehicle
• Highlight any damage or repairs as necessary to the Education Manager

Displays and Promotion

• Produce high quality displays of young peoples work photos and achievements throughout the school to create an atmosphere of belonging and pride
• Ensure that all wall displays in the school are kept up to date and replaced within 3 days if damage has occurred.
• Ensure BEST points for all young people are updated and displayed weekly.

Fire Safety and First Aid

• Ensure weekly checks of the fire alarm, emergency lighting and firefighting equipment are carried out and recorded
• Ensure that the school is supplied with all appropriate first aid materials which are fit for use, stored correctly and in date.

Other professional requirements

• Have a working knowledge of teachers professional duties and legal liabilities
• Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school
• Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct
• Provide information, advice and guidance to Inclusive Education Practitioners to inform and enhance their practice
• Endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations
• Contribute to the life of the school through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to co-ordinate the management of the school
• Take responsibility for your own professional development and duties in relation to school policies and practices

Other duties may include:

• Supporting the Companys trainee scheme.
• Responsibility for the co-ordination of activities, and associated staff.
• Preparation and completion of training material and resources and/or associated paperwork before and/or after training sessions, activities or expeditions.
• Preparation and/or transportation of equipment and resources.
• Contribution to the continuing review and development of training material and resources.
• Care and maintenance of Company equipment, vehicles and resources in line with documented procedures.
• Ensuring all projects undertaken on behalf of the Company are completed in the most cost efficient way.
• Driving a company vehicle when required which may include transporting clients and towing trailers where your licence allows.
• Additional duties as stated or referred to in the job description or as deemed appropriate by the Company.

Salary:

• Between £20,078 and £22,424 dependent on experience and qualifications. Please be aware the salary provided is pro rata to the contracted 44 weeks.
