Peabody Public Schools Hiring for Virtual Teacher (Elementary -) at Peabody, MA Full Time

POSITION: Virtual Teacher (Elementary 3-5)

S TO: Executive Director of Remote Learning and External Partnerships

JOB GOAL: Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Remote Learning and the virtual teaching faculty to deliver a high quality virtual learning experience for the students in the Peabody Personalized Remote Education Program 3-5.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare and deliver highly interactive instructional activities through various online applications, virtually.
• Deliver the Peabody Public Schools curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
• Create virtual synchronous and asynchronous lesson plans throughout the year.
• Use formative and summative data to modify lessons for the students as appropriate
• Establish and communicate clear content and language objectives for all learning activities.
• Motivate and engage students in the virtual classroom.
• Ensure students and families understand and can articulate expectations for success.
• Conduct personalized support/tutorial services for students as needed.
• Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
• Personalize instruction based on student learning needs.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Work with guidance, support staff and administrative teams to ensure initiatives are being met.
• Follow MA State Teacher Evaluation System as it is illustrated in the Peabody Public Schools Frontline System.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead students through successful course completion.
• Foster a virtual environment conducive to learning.
• Prioritize student needs so that each child may reach their fullest potential.
• Partner with parents and colleagues through effective communication to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that best benefit the individual needs of each student.
• Engage and nurture student learning and student relationships.
• Teach innovative synchronous lessons over a virtual platform.
• Promote creativity and excitement in the virtual learning environment.
• Use student performance data to drive instruction.
• Plan for and, where appropriate, participate in curriculum development teams to enhance teaching and learning (curriculum maps, assessments, cards, etc.) and promote best practices throughout the district

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Appropriate DESE subject certification
• Meets state’s NCLB’s Highly Qualified Teacher requirements
• Proficient in the entire Google Education Suite of Tools
• Strong written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to periodically travel within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in parent conferences, open houses, etc.
• An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. learning management systems, web-based instructional tools)
• SEI endorsement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Three (3) years teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with the proposed age group.
• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
• Experience working in a virtual environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per Contract

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the Executive Director for Remote Learning
