The Position:
This position will serve at the ground level in Connecticut and report to the Educators Rising Implementation Department at the PDK national office to coordinate programs, and curriculum implementation, and execute Connecticut’s state and regional Educators Rising events. The CT Field Director will act as the executor and liaison between the national office and the CT’s State Department of Education to support the partnership and ensure the smooth and professional execution of the program.
This is an exciting time for PDK’s Educators Rising, with growth in interest from districts and states on our “grow your own” educator pathway initiatives, our commitment to diversity in education, and our efforts to inspire middle school, high school, and collegiate preservice candidates into education careers. We need someone who can help us to scale the program while also being a hands-on team member getting in the weeds and getting the work done and making a difference in the local community as well as providing a meaningful career for students who may find this their calling.
Primary Duties:
Liaise between the State Department of Education and the PDK national office to coordinate and implement common goals for success
Partner with schools and districts to establish Educators Rising chapters that introduce high school students to the teaching profession, including helping to identify skilled teachers to serve as teacher leaders
Expand the participation of districts, schools, and students in the program through regular information sessions
Implement the Educators Rising standards through the curriculum, competitions, and programming to support students in their journey to become meaningful and effective educators in their communities
Provide resources and support to teacher leaders and guidance counselors to recruit student participants
Conduct regular trainings and guide program teacher leaders through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) or Network Improvement Community
Hold regular state-level meetings with teacher leaders to educate and hold participants accountable for their part in our student’s success
Plan and execute an annual state conference and state competitions
Facilitate the selection of state-level student leaders and coordinate their participation in the governance of Educators Rising
Identify and facilitate connections with potential revenue or fundraising sources so that PDK national can coordinate with said partners to keep district and student costs down
Travel to local districts as needed, annual Educators Rising National Conference, and PDK national all-staff meetings and professional development (at most quarterly)

Qualifications:
Exceptional emotional intelligence, compassion, and self-awareness combined with the strength of conviction, and “steel” in the face of adversity. Oh, and humor too
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred OR commensurate work experience
3+ years of experience in K12 education
Experience in district administration or state education department administration is a plus
Demonstrated understanding of school, district, and state education agency sales cycle, budget process, and purchasing process
Experience with the consultative communication process
A demonstrated ability to mediate discussions by recognizing underlying hesitations and overcoming concerns
Proven track record of excelling in a fast-paced work environment and managing time effectively
Ability to execute but not be limited to linear thinking and a willingness to lead and innovate
Confident, assertive, and goal-oriented with the ability to learn quickly and effectively apply learned processes into practice
Exceptional communicator – verbal and written
Experience with education technology including but not limited to learning management systems (LMS) and contact records management (CRM) preferred
As this role is grant-funded applicants must have the ability to open doors to funding sources and or create resource opportunities for the successful continuation of the impact in the state and the growth of the program
Compensation:
Educators Rising is prepared to offer a $65K to $75K as base compensation for the role, depending on experience, as well as generous 403(b), vacation, and health benefits
