JOB DESCRIPTION: Junior Developer

This is a Hybrid Remote and In-Person role, based at our Springfield, MA Headquarters. Base pay will be based on experience, with a starting range of $50,000 to $80,000 per year.

PAYCE Technology is develops hardware and software solutions for the parking industry. Our clients include hospitals, restaurants, hotels, casinos, banquet facilities, ski resorts, and many other private venues. We are a family run business, are experiencing fast paced growth, and take pride in providing superior customer service and the quality of our employees.

To keep pace with our expanding offerings, we are adding to our programming / systems development staff. This is a great opportunity for someone with 3-5 years of professional experience and is looking for a position that offers growth potential, creativity, and the opportunity to make a significant impact on our products. The Developer I will code, test, and maintain software that interface tightly with hardware to meet the needs of PAYCE’s clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain code for PAYCE that meets/exceeds clients’ expectations.

• Update, improve, and develop ‘fixes’ for existing software modules/features.

• Address client needs via coding, testing, and integration with existing systems.

• Learn the structures, methodology, and roadmaps for PAYCE’s existing proprietary software and hardware solutions.

• Understand the range of business processes in the parking industry.

• Work as part of a close team and convey new knowledge to other team members.

• Research technologies that will help meet the needs of all stakeholders.

• Support users and colleagues by responding to email, phone, and direct requests, thorough commenting, documentation, and training.

• Ensure that systems are compliant with regulations and secured against cybersecurity threats.

• Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:

• Degree in a technical or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field.

• 3-5 years professional programming experience (not including internships, school projects, etc.).

• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Proficiency in PHP and MySQL (or similar SQL based relational database).

• Web Application development skills (HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, etc.)

• Experience with examining, understanding, and testing code written by others.

• Excellent time management skills, be a self-starter, and can pay attention to details.

• Solid skills for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving problems.

• Experience working in a team environment.

• Understand the challenges faced when dealing with PII, PCI, and PHI.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service ethos. Ability to explain complex issues to a community with a diverse background and technical ability.

• Ability to understand and analyze data

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Advanced cybersecurity experience

• E-Commerce experience

• Creatively develop ways to automate and improve processes

• Experience working with AWS services

• Native Mobile App development experience a plus
