Apply today for a position as a PAVE AmeriCorps Academic Coach where you’ll support Eldon High School 9-12 grade students in English Language Arts.. Enjoy flexible scheduling with a consistent monthly income, health coverage, and an education award of $6,895.
OUR PROGRAM
PAVE AmeriCorps places Academic Coaches in one of Eldon’s four buildings [Eldon South Elementary (K-2), Eldon Upper Elementary (3-5), Eldon Middle School (6-8), or Eldon High School (9-12)] where they provide individualized interventions to at-risk students via one-on-one, small group, and whole classroom settings. Our members are an integral part of each buildings’ staff. We have existed as part of the Eldon R-1 School District for 16 years, and our staff appreciate and value the support we’re able to provide students and teachers through our presence in their classrooms. We like to consider ourselves the district’s largest hiring pool. We’re proud to say 10% of the district’s entire staff are made of PAVE AmeriCorps Alums. If you’re looking to get your foot in the door at a great school while building meaningful relationships and empowering at-risk students to succeed personally and academically, we encourage you to apply today!
MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS
Students are not one-size-fits all beings. We work diligently to recruit a staff from diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and levels of education to increase our opportunity to provide every student with the “just right” person to reach them where they are and empower them to succeed personally and academically. Our members do this by joining the students in the classroom, building effective working relationships with teachers, and providing one-on-one, small group, and/or whole classroom support to supplement the instruction provided by the teacher. Our members are generally assigned to one or two grade levels at the elementary level or one content area at the secondary level. Their dedication to that area allows them to become a valued member of the teaching team there.
MEMBER SUPPORT
Member development is a key aspect of our program. We want our members to gain as much from their service as the students do from them being here. We provide whole staff and individualized training for efficacy in service as well as marketability and success in members’ professional life after AmeriCorps.
