DEFINITION

Under general direction from the Public Information Officer or a designee, designs, publishes and updates new and existing District websites, with materials from various sources; while ensuring and assisting school sites with webpage development, to produce uniform content across the different sites.

This single classification is distinguished from all other communication technology classification in that incumbents in this classification sole focus of daily duties is providing uniformity across the different schools’ websites, in regards to layout, design and content, while other classifications with similar duties focus on actual text and information of the content itself.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS
Education: Graduation from high school, G.E.D. equivalency or higher; and, completion of at least 12 semester units of post-secondary level courses in web design or computer science from an accredited academic institution.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time paid experience designing and managing websites or acting as a webmaster. Experience in a K-12 environment is highly desirable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities of this class include but are not limited to:

  • Addresses website accessibility issues and recommends solutions to provide greater access for the general public
  • Coordinates development of District intranet
  • Develops website standards guide and provides training for departmental and school website administrators
  • Designs “look and feel” of sites in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Develops and maintains District-wide – web based – calendar of events
  • Documents, s, and helps resolve compliance issues
  • Integrates multimedia assets and applications into various sites, including streaming content from satellite feeds and local productions
  • Links sites to multiple databases to provide dynamic content
  • Maintains cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility for District sites
  • Maintains current knowledge of web development standards
  • Manages content and design of websites for Pasadena Unified School District
  • Manages links to ensure they remain up-to-date
  • Meets with internal clients and external authorized vendors to assess client needs to keep web content up-to-date, reflecting recent and relevant news and events
  • Monitors web content and s irregularities
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates development and training events for departments’ and sites’ web administrators
  • Provides for proper management of the website, including importing and exporting files, file management and task management
  • Performs other related duties as required
