The HIM Support Specialist will provide support and assistance to the HIM/Coding teams, including facility based staff as it relates to unbilled account resolution, appropriate access audits and state ing.
In this role you will (may include but not limited to):
Researches, analyzes and trends unbilled accounts to identify reason for coding/billing delay.
Resolves accounts assigned to various HPF/MPF work queues, eRequest queues, and worklists in 3M 360
Encompass which require research and analysis to determine the appropriate action(s) to be taken.
Utilizes various s and applications to compile daily work list, enter detailed notes, create assignments and deficiencies including the Enterprise Unbilled Tool, HPF, MEDITECH, 3M 360 Encompass, etc. to identify and resolve unbilled accounts.
Works collaboratively with facility HIM staff to identify and resolve unbilled account issues timely.
Escalates accounts to the appropriate functional area based on account age, balance, and issue.
Compiles s and abstracts newborn data via MEDITECH abstracting module.
Assists with state ing and release of information certification reviews in applicable areas.
Assists with gathering statistics for HIM/Coding ing (e.g., delinquency).
Maintains confidentiality with all PHI and HIPAA related information.
Perform HPF/MPF Appropriate Access Audits timely according to the Appropriate Access Roles and Responsibilities policy identified in ISAM.
Quarterly, a designated sample of HIM/Coding, including Facility HPF/MPF users, view and print activity reviewed and ed according to protocol.
Quarterly, a designated sample of HPF/MPF locked record access is reviewed and ed according to protocol.
Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of all HPF/MPF access audits and the outcomes of those audits.
Responsible for obtaining updated lists of HPF/MPF users quarterly.
s potential inappropriate access to the user’s Manager for investigation.
Communicates with management staff on outcome of investigation to ensure inappropriate access is ed to appropriate FPO for evaluation and ing.
State data correction/submission – responsible for reviewing and correcting errors according to established timelines and protocols. Also must correspond with facility HIM Leader to ensure data approval process completed within stated deadlines.
State data error trends – responsible for identifying trends in types of errors at each facility and facilitating communication to the appropriate personnel for remedy.
Responsible for producing and utilizing potential duplicate s at the facility level. Requires critical thinking to support the integrity of source system databases and the MPI through the remediation (merge/link decisions) of duplicate data and related tasks. Merge decisions are made utilizing logic appropriate for each source system as documented in approved procedures and are executed through the source system.
Communicates with staff at source system level to follow up on pended tasks or to seek assistance with merge/non-merge decisions.
Responsible for maintaining productivity logs, performing a minimum of errors upon QA review (2% or less). s task completion and errors made as required by manager.
Demonstrates initiative in the accomplishment of work duties and follows up on pended tasks through research and team discussions.
Demonstrates awareness of the sensitivity and confidentiality of data/materials and the ability to handle them with discretion.
Works effectively as part of a team to perform duties and achieve daily operational goals.
Maintains or exceeds established productivity and quality standards.
Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”

EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Hospital or physician office clerical experience preferred; 2 years office experience required
