• Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience 8 years progressive experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment preferred.

– Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and purchasing documents. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, subordinates, customers and clients.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office.
– Experience in chemical, food and/or packaging a plus.
– Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
– Ability to perform basic math functions, basic algebraic computations, compute ratio, discounts, percentages. Ability to interpret and draw graphs and charts.
– Prove ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and non-concrete variables.
– Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and work under pressure.
– The ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
– Able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
– ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Responsible for efficient purchasing of inventory and supplies for the company. Receive and verify purchase requisitions for accuracy and authorization(s). Source new vendors where necessary. 2. Prepare and issue purchase orders, obtain quotes, determine and negotiate price, delivery and credit terms; buy according to established company policies and procedures, maintain accurate purchasing records. 3. Responsible for evaluation, assessment and selection of vendors based on capabilities, performance and consistent quality assurance. Maintain rapport and good working relationship with vendors, keep accurate vendor records. 4. Evaluate inventory reorder levels and quantity price breaks to determine most economical purchasing of inventory and supplies in relationship to company’s cost of capital. Prepare monthly reports and review forecast of purchasing commitments with management. 5. Devise methods and policies ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of plants. Coordinate functions related to production and inventory control. Coordinate and distribute raw materials to satellite facilities. 6. Analyze and evaluate inventory problems and recommend solutions. Coordinate functions between production and inventory. 7. Expedite purchase orders as necessary and ensure delivery of purchased items for uninterrupted manufacturing flow. 8. Assist in vendor qualifications and approval process. 9. Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry. This position is guided by and based upon SQF 2000 code.
