Educational Coordinator Position in Residential Treatment Program

Paradigm Treatment has an opening for an educational coordinator in our residential treatment program for adolescents struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma and behavioral disorders in Malibu. In this dynamic and interactive position, the teacher is responsible for conducting the mentor-style classroom each weekday morning, as well as collaborating with parents and home schools to coordinate and facilitate academic assignments so that the client can continue with schoolwork during treatment.

The educational coordinator serves as a key mentor and role model, and the position continually interacts with a team of mental health professionals in providing services to clients and their families. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with adolescents and someone who can be inspirational with the youth in their work academically and interpersonally.

Job Description

Typical shifts are from 7am-3pm

Duties include:

· Maintaining regular professional communication with parents and schools

· Creating and sustaining a productive classroom environment

· Attendance at weekly clinical meetings and regular communication with therapeutic teams

· Sending out weekly school reports for each client

· Writing daily classroom notes

· Helping to wake clients and prepare them for the day

· Periodically transporting youth for outings and engaging them in recreational and other activities

· other operational and administrative duties as needed.

Essential qualities:

-excellent written and oral communication skills

-ability to multitask and delegate to classroom staff

-punctuality and stellar time management

-sensitivity and understanding around differing identities

-ability to maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate sound judgement at all times

-experience working with youth, preferably in a leadership position

In addition to the essential qualities, ideal candidates have:

· bachelor’s degree in education, liberal arts, or psychology

· experience in mental healthcare

· experience in education

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $26.00 per hour
