Papich Construction is currently conducting a search for a MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST to join our team. Since 1997, Papich Construction has helped build communities throughout California as a respected full-service general engineering contractor.

POSITION SCOPE

The Materials and Equipment Accounting Specialist for performing the accounting duties in support of the materials and equipment departments within the company.

DUTIES

• Process daily billing for Materials Division
• Apply customer payments on account
• Research billing issues, process credit and rebills
• Review interplant trucking invoices for accuracy
• Process customer credit applications including new customer setup in accounting system
• Send preliminary notices to Sierra Pacific Materials customers
• Weekly review of aging, collections, tracking and reporting delinquent accounts to management
• Materials division weekly and monthly reporting and reconciliations
• Royalty calculations and entry into accounting software
• System updates and maintenance including tax updates, price changes, customer holds, etc.
• Assist in preparation of sales/use tax payments and returns
• Oil invoice entry, logging, and monthly payments
• IFTA Tax return
• Monthly Inventory reconciliation and variance analysis with management
• Monthly closing procedures / general ledger and job cost reconciliations/profit and loss statements
• Record the purchase/sale of equipment in general ledger and asset log
• Responsible for setting up equipment loans in accounting software, creating amortization schedules, and making the payments on time
• Monthly depreciation journal entry

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline
• 5+ years of experience of accounts payable, preferably in a high-volume construction accounts payable department; or
• An equivalent of degree and experience combined
• Understanding of accounting principles
• Intermediate proficiency with Excel and Word
• Ability to do mathematical calculations quickly and accurately
• Forensic levels of attention to detail, organized, and able to meet stringent deadlines
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

This is a full-time, hourly position eligible for overtime. Competitive starting salary.
