Role Description/Criteria

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Outdoor Education/Physical Education Assistant is accountable for the effective delivery of quality educational support for students. Within the role, the Outdoor Education Assistant supports the Catholic Identity of Padua College and works collaboratively with other staff and members of the school community to support students to achieve enhanced learning outcomes. The role provides support to teachers in the delivery of defined educational programs and activities and interventions for students.

The Outdoor Education/Physical Education Assistant assists in outdoor education instruction as required, purchasing within guidelines, assisting with budget submissions, assisting with camp and excursion arrangements and the safe conduct of Outdoor Education and Physical Education activities. The Outdoor Education/Physical Education Assistant is responsible for an efficient level of service together with accurate and timely administrative, operational and developmental support.

The Outdoor Education/Physical Education Assistant is a member of the Health and Physical Education Department and reports directly to the Director of Finance under the direction of the Health & Physical Education Learning Leader in consultation with the Outdoor Education Leader. Most work will be completed at the Mornington Campus, with involvement at Rosebud and Tyabb Campuses as needed.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Outdoor Education/Physical Education Assistant’s major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to, assisting members of the Outdoor Education and Health and Physical Education Team in:

i. ordering and maintenance of all equipment;

ii. supporting the Outdoor Education and Physical Education departments with administration assistance;

iii. assisting with administration of, and providing in-person operational support, for Physical Education and Outdoor Education programs, excursions and camps;

iv. other duties as requested by the Principal or Learning Leader – Health and Physical Education.
