This position manages the day to day accounting functions for a trucking company with 150 trucks and trailers. This will be a broad role that will interface closely with different functional areas within the business. Opportunity to make a significant impact in the organization.

Major Accountabilities

Support the monthly close process including the consolidation of results and preparation of monthly financial statements.

• Ensures that all financial reporting is compliant with US Regulatory accounting standards.

• Ensure compliance with internal financial accounting controls.

• Review work of staff to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.

General Responsibilities

• Work closely with and support the management team in analyzing results and providing support in data requests during rate cases

• Work closely with AP, AR, Billing and Payroll.

• Responsible for staffing and training within the accounting department.

• Point person for troubleshooting accounting system issues
• Lead efforts to improve and standardize monthly financial reporting requirements at the operational and consolidated level.

• Evaluate existing procedures and implement process improvements to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.

Requirements

• 2 – 4 years of management level experience in accounting
• Solid knowledge of accounting, budgeting, projecting and cost controls.

• Prior experience supervising staff accountants.

• Broad skills in financial analysis and forecasting.

• An outgoing personality with a team player attitude is a must.
