Finance Director

The Finance Director will be instrumental in supporting the growth of the firm by collaborating within the Business team, and with the Deal and Farm teams. The Business team owns the accounting, financial reporting, tax, accounts payable, treasury, HR, insurance, administration, IT and systems development, and general back-office functions for the entire organization.

The ideal candidate a track record of improving efficiencies with a focus on leveraging systems to automate processes and enhance the visibility of operating metrics. This tech savvy individual is energized by the prospect of optimizing investor portals, accounting software, and other integrated management systems, while supporting the Deal team on the due diligence and integration of new acquisitions. The Finance Director will play a role in developing the capabilities within the Business team, while fostering an atmosphere of collaboration across the organization.

As a high growth company, roles will evolve over time, but initially the key responsibilities of this role will include:

• Develop and manage systems and processes to scale the business efficiently:

• Investor administration – develop the investor portal and manage investor communications.
• Support the Deal team with acquisition due diligence, equity raises, and manage the integration of new acquisitions.
• Develop and document key company processes.
• Insurance management – develop and manage the property, casualty, and executive risk insurance programs.
• Contract management – standardize key contracts, support teams in reviewing contracts, and ensure a robust process to manage all contracts.
• Collaborate with the VP to develop the business team structure to support the growth through service channel development, intercompany transactions/cost sharing arrangements amongst the entities (e.g. equipment pooling entity; IC-DISC).
• Document management.
• Financial Planning & Analysis.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive fund administration experience. Exposure to the farming or agricultural industry preferred but not required.
• Track record of implementing systems and processes to support the needs of a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization.
• Ability to engage with all levels within the organization in addition to equity investors, professional services, and vendors – identify their needs and provide solutions.
• Support acquisition or expansion projects and integration efforts.
• Experience developing processes for accurate cash forecasting, bi-annual investor distributions, budgeting, debt and equity reporting, tax filings/K-1 preparation, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel), QuickBooks, and Google Worksheets.
• Ability to summarize complex concepts for all audiences in an easy-to-understand manner.
• Positive/can-do attitude, self-starter, strong sense of urgency, and ownership mindset.
• Energetic and fun person to have on a team!
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field; CPA, MBA, or other higher certification/education is a plus.
