Bexley CAMHS has been successful is securing a bid to provide two Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) within borough-based education settings. Bexley MHST commenced in January 2021 and will be fully operational within 20 local schools by January 2022.
The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health in Schools Support Teams will be part of Bexley CAMHS schools pathway.
We are looking to recruit an Education Mental Health Practitioner Trainee to join our newly established team, who will start their training at Kings College London in January 2022.
EMHP Role
This is a training role within the Green Paper for Transforming children and young people’s mental health programme. The post holder will work within Bexley education settings providing low intensity guided self-help interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role at Kings College London University. On successful completion of the course trainees will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma based on a Nationally devised curriculum.
The training post will equip the post-holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties. The post- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the EMHP curriculum and work in Bexley CAMHS service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills within Bexley education settings.
We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about improving health outcomes for children and young people. Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in psychology or related subject and have previous experience working with children and young people in either a health or educational setting.
