The Finance Team is well respected across the Council and takes great pride in delivering an effective financial strategy, that is supporting innovation & creativity, and driving effective financial management.
This post will report to the Assistant Director of Finance, for line management purposes, but is accountable to the Director of Finance for providing the technical advice, insight, and interpretation of Financial Accounting Standards and Regulations.
The post requires the production of the Annual Statement of Accounts, other statutory returns, and managing the External Audit process. You will also routinely report to the Finance Senior Management Team (Director of Finance and the Assistant Director of Finance).
You will form part of the Finance Leadership Team and will have management responsibility for the Financial Accounting Team, consisting of five staff. A natural leader, with previous experience of managing a successful team, is paramount for this post.
The successful incumbent will maintain the financial accounting system and monitor performance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information and accounting processes. You will ensure the accurate and timely completion of statutory reporting on the council’s finances. This includes the annual Statement of Accounts and providing advice and guidance to Senior Managers and Members on the financial accounting standards, requirements and performance.
