Owensboro Health Hiring for Genetic Counselor Assistant – Preventative Services at Owensboro, KY Full Time

Performs administrative and basic duties necessary to assist genetic counselor(s) in providing genetic testing and risk assessment for cancer predisposition to patients and families.

Job Responsibilities

• Learns the genetic testing and billing processes and answer patient questions pertaining to the process.
• Completes insurance preauthorization requests in online portals.
• Performs necessary administrative duties-answer phone calls, assist patients in scheduling appointments, administer patient intake forms and complete family histories.
• Assists in the operation of family history and genetic databases.
• Obtains 3 generation pedigree.
• Uploads patient records to EPIC.
• Organizes and manage ordering of test kits for lab.
• Reviews upcoming patient schedules to ensure team has necessary records.
• Organizes and triage the genetics referral queue.
• Contacts laboratories to request amendments to incorrect s.
• Participates in community event representing Genetics and Prevention services.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Health Science Field required upon hire OR
• Associate’s degree or higher in related field required upon hire
• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience preferred
• Genetic Assistant Online Training Program from Johns Hopkins or other nationally recognized program required within 12 months of employment in this position
