The Process Engineer is responsible for collaborating with operators to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the process at the Guelph Composites plant, with a focus on customer satisfaction. As a process owner, the successful candidate will lead projects and programs from day-to-day through to strategic, long-term improvements in glass fibre manufacturing, working in partnership with technical staff, operators, and skilled trades.
Reporting to the Technical Leader, this individual must be focused on delivering business results by engaging operators and skilled trades to ensure the safe operation of the process while driving improvements around customer quality and process efficiencies. The candidate will demonstrate a strength for continuous improvement, project management and a practical hands-on approach in a 24-7 unionized environment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Live the Safety stand – adhere to the safety responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to employee health and safety, particularly through a commitment to zero injuries, awareness of hazards, and a strong understanding of legislative requirements in all aspects of the operation.

2. Demonstrate customer commitment and responsiveness
Maintain equipment and test methods for product or process data gathering to ensure our products consistently meet our customers’ requirements.
Respond to internal and external customer quality issues, applying the 8D format and investigation methods.
Support continuous improvement efforts; lead and participate in waste reduction projects: track, document and communicate results.
Perform or support trial activity and data gathering.

Net conversion efficiency and throughput improvements
Customer quality complaints
3. Lead Process Improvement Activities using cross-functional teams and resources
Lead and participate in teamwork to identify key process variables to eliminate variation through equipment upgrades and data driven decision-making.
Interact with operators and support personnel to establish, communicate, and track metrics and identify opportunities for improvement and problem-solving activities.
Utilize a data-driven approach to prioritize the resource allocation to continuously improve the processes.
Develop and maintain visual manufacturing media throughout the operation.
Maintain and update the management system procedures and deliver communication and training to the operations group as required to ensure standards are met and maintained.

Job Requirements
Experience:
University degree in Engineering
3-5 years manufacturing experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on process and equipment improvements
Proven interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate effectively with a focus on implementing change effectively
