Full Charge Bookkeeper

The Overhead Door Company of Cortland, Inc. seeks to hire a Full Charge Bookkeeper. The Company has offices in three locations (Binghamton, Cortland, and Syracuse) with a total of 45 employees. The company sells, installs, and repairs residential upward-acting doors, door openers, and screens, as well as commercial loading dock equipment such as dock levelers and dock seals. The company headquarters are in Cortland, NY.

Job Description:

The Full Charge Bookkeeper reports to the CFO and is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, financial statement preparation, and performing general accounting functions, as required.

Duties:

• Weekly payroll for three locations
• Track company bank accounts, and balances; report regularly to management
• Record and pay accounts payable, track company invoice obligations, make accurate and timely invoice payments, gain approval where necessary, and identify and report inaccuracies and variances
• Prepare company monthly financial statements such as Income/P&L and balance sheets
• Prepare monthly and quarterly tax returns including sales and use tax, highway use tax, and other appropriate business taxes
• Assist with corporate audit by outside CPA firm. Collect information as requested for the annual audit.
• Review general ledger entries; make adjustments
• Supervise the invoicing, receipts, and deposits being done at the branch locations.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounts payable & receivable, general ledger and payroll experience in a corporate environment
• Knowledge of payables, and accounting best practices
• Experience with financial transaction reporting
• Experience in supporting payroll processing and making payroll taxes
• Expertise in Microsoft Office suite and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
• Understanding of tax obligations and reporting requirements for payables
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Strong quantitative and analytical ability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Associate’s degree in accounting or related field

Pay: $800.00 – $1,200.00 per week
