Our PlayHouse Preschool Hiring for Director of Early Childhood Education Job at Durham, NC Full Time

Our PlayHouse Preschool is a Reggio-Emilia inspired, accredited preschool program for children 12 months to 5 years of age. We are an adventurous and caring community of teachers, children, and parents who love to learn, play, and explore together.

The Director is responsible for oversight of the school’s daily operations and physical space, managing the teaching staff, enrollment and admissions, and maintaining a close working relationship with the school’s founders. Because these duties require exceptional care and attention, the Director will maintain a full-time schedule.

The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic, self-starter who can take directions but work independently. Strong writing, computer, and organizational skills are necessary for this position. The right candidate will be invested in creating and maintaining a positive school environment for all families enrolled as well as the teaching staff.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s and ideally relevant experience. Compelling candidates lacking the above requirements but possessing unique educational backgrounds and experience will be considered.

In addition, the Director should have or exhibit:

• The ability to sustain the Our PlayHouse Preschool model through proven business and financial experience or a willingness to learn

• The ability to discover and address problematic issues, and identify solutions.

• Communicate and build positive relationships with current and prospective parents

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating school-wide events and community outreach, encourage parent involvement

• Attending all school functions including quarterly Community Board meetings

• Maintaining and updating all student and staff records, including but not limited to general records, class lists, and rosters

• Interview and hire new staff, train and orient new teachers.

• Provide ongoing staff training and supervision

• Conduct weekly staff meetings

• Materials/supply ordering and distribution

• Responsible for the managing the maintenance of the buildings and grounds

• Work with licensing/accreditation to ensure compliance

• Admissions and enrollment

• Invoicing, accounts payable, payroll, document paid time off

• Social media content and posts
