Hours: 26.5 hours/week. Days are Monday-Friday. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday full days [7.5 hours/day]; Tuesday and Thursday half days, mornings [3.5 hours/day]. This position may expand to include an evening assignment per week or a ten week Saturday morning assignment.

Description: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams, contribute to community, and engage in a lifetime of learning.

Responsibilities:
Assist the children’s teacher with instructional tasks, working directly and indirectly with students to provide a supervised safe and caring environment for children enrolled in Early Childhood and Family Education classes.

Assist children’s teacher in carrying out daily program by arranging equipment and supplies, preparing materials, cutting out patterns, and participating in various activities, etc.

Work with students individually or in small groups on academic [literacy, math, science], motor, and social [peer relation and emotion management] skills.

Observe children to prevent safety/health hazards.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to maintain developmentally appropriate relationships with children.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Preferred:
Experience working with highly diverse student population

Experience working with families from low socio-economic background

Experience working with young children with no or limited group experiences

Job Type: Part-time, school year
