THE ROLE

The Accounting and Functional Currency team sits within Origin’s finance shared services area responsible for providing a central support point for Origin’s business units with accounting advice and completion of balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, foreign currency verification, journals and associated Functional Currency requirements.

The role of Assistant Account reports to the Team Leader Accounting & Functional Currency and is part of a highly engaged and high performing team.

The role will be responsible for:

• Complete the high volume daily Bank account reconciliations
• Liaise with Receipting Team, Retail Business Unit, IT to ensure that all transactions are processed correctly and to ensure completeness of data and transactions.
• Balance Sheet account reconciliation process, ensuring material issues contained in the accounts are effectively reported and resolved in a timely manner.
• Maintain both internal and external relationships, developing knowledge of operational businesses (to extent required) systems, processes and functionality in order to improve current services and or offer new ones.
• Assist internal and external audit functions.

IS THIS YOU?

You’ll need to be commercially astute, responsive to customer needs and detail focused. It would be advantageous if you were tertiary qualified in accounting, commerce or finance and had completed professional qualification with the Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or Chartered Accountants

More importantly, you can show, through the work you’ve done:

• A minimum of 3 years accounting experience involving data processing and accounting reconciliations
• Experience in Bank reconciliations
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience in the use of SAP/S4HANNA
• Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise work flow
• Exposure in a high volume, transactional environment
