About the role

We are pleased to announce that we are inviting candidate applications for the role of Vice – President Group Finance. In this exciting and extremely rare opportunity you will lead the global finance function in support of delivering Orica’s business strategy, and have responsibility for creating and driving finance processes, policies, controls and reporting to ensure that all financial objectives are met.

In this highly visible and critical role, you will be responsible for creating value by managing and driving Group reporting and forecasting, statutory reporting, performance reporting and capital investment evaluation. You will also work closely with our senior leaders to identify and highlight key trends across the portfolio to drive improvements in business performance and partner with our development team to coordinate the annual strategic plan. This role will have extensive exposure to the Executive Committee, CEO, CFO, Board of Directors and constant interface with our regional business leaders and global development teams.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a background in executive level finance roles, and have strong commercial acumen, numeracy and execution skills. What you will be doing

• Accountable for control of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow and analysis, visibility and insight into underlying business unit financial performance.
• Business support on decision making, target setting, investments and performance.
• Translation of strategic and operational plans into budgets that improve performance and delivery.
• Deliver standardised planning, analysis and performance reporting in support of Orica Group.
• Group executive and board reporting including monthly and periodic reporting packs.
• Ownership and co-ordination of budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Perform the financial accounting function across the Group and accountable for consolidated and local statutory financial accounts.
• Capital and investment management, including capital and operating lease approvals, project governance and stage gate approval, and capital portfolio management and prioritization.
• Work closely with the investor relations team to ensure clear and accurate representation of our strategy and delivery in external materials.
• Ownership and governance of Finance Master Data standards and provide direction on enterprise-wide projects as they impact Master data structures.
• Operate as the custodian of finance processes, reporting and internal controls.

What you will bring

• Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of 15 years’ senior finance leadership experience.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, business or equivalent (post-graduate highly regarded)
• Demonstrated track record of generating business value through delivery of improvement projects and business reviews.
• Effective change management and building sustainable organisational capability related to the introduction and application of new business processes.
• Exceptionally strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in the preparation of disclosure documents.
• Strong ability to develop internal and external relationships, and influence others at all levels of an organization.
• Experience in manufacturing, mining & metals, oil and gas or other capital-intensive sectors is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of foreign languages and international experience is advantageous but not essential.
