Purpose of Role:
We are seeking a motivated and talented Associate Scientist to join our Cell Processing Team at Ori Biotech. The successful candidate will work across a range of cell and gene therapy focused projects supporting process/product characterisation, testing, analytical assay execution and data analysis. This position provides an opportunity to work alongside the Ori Biotech technical team and consultants during the different stages of the development cycle for Ori’s products.
Key Accountabilities:
To work closely with the Senior Scientists to ensure the successful delivery of project outputs. Key responsibilities include:
· Following SOPs and instructions of senior members of the R&D team.
· Planning and execution of laboratory-based tasks, cell culture experiments and flow cytometry assays.
· Support laboratory-based development activities across a range of projects.
· Assist in the maintenance of the laboratory environment suitable for cell processing, ensuring adequate reagent supply for different projects.
· Operating, managing and maintaining different equipment including FACSLyric flow cytometer and automated cell counters.
· Author standard operating procedures.
· Keep written laboratory notebooks to standard required for regulatory and patent filings and publications.
· Attendance of weekly R&D meetings.
· Reporting of results to the CSO and Senior R&D team as required.
· Review literature in preparation for studies and to regularly update knowledge.
· Comply with company health and safety policies and quality system.
Experience Required:
· Knowledge (and preferably hands on experience) of immunotherapy production including CAR and TCR therapies.
· Cell culture experience with either Immune cells (Lymphocytes, PBMC, Dendritic cells)HSC CD34+ cells, hESC, hiPS, MSC or other clinically relevant cell types is essential.
Desirable:
· Experienced in cell processing technologies, particularly within upstream cell bioprocessing is highly desirable.
· Experience in cell isolation from one or more of the following sources: apheresis, peripheral or cord blood and/or bone marrow is desirable.
· Demonstrable experience in relevant analytical techniques (Cell counts, Flow Cytometry, metabolite analysis, PCR).
· Experience of expansion of immune cells in a bioreactor system(s).
· Knowledge and applications of safety procedures.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to work quickly and accurately with a strong focus on attention to detail.
· Ability to be agile and work in a start-up environment.
