Orchard Ridge Farm Hiring for Seasonal Farm Worker Full Time

COMPENSATION : hourly, $15-20/hr

Orchard Ridge Farm (ORF) is a family owned agritourism destination in Southern Maine. We grow apples, pears, blueberries, and raspberries available for u-pick, on-site farm store, and local grocers. Our farm store is open year-round selling produce, meats, cheeses, crafts, and prepared foods from over 50 local producers. In addition to u-pick we invite our community and travelers alike to enjoy Orchard Ridge Farm’s 38 acres through gatherings, workshops, and multi-use trails. We seek to provide an inclusive, welcoming environment for guests to recreate and enjoy!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Orchard Ridge Farm is an agritourism destination situated on 38 acres in Gorham, ME. We are a u-pick orchard with apples, pears, and blueberries, livestock, and year-round farm store with full commercial kitchen and specialty groceries.The owners of ORF (Kristen, Erica, and Mary) purchased the property in August 2021 and have been transforming it over the last year. Though we have accomplished a lot in the past year, we have so much more we want to do!We are looking to fill one full time position (35-40hrs/wk) with a start date of April 3rd. This position is Monday-Friday and will go through November. At least one season of farming is required for the full time position.

We will also need two part-time (20hrs/wk) people June-August.
These positions are ideal for a student!

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, can work independently, and has a positive attitude. Farming is hard work both physically and mentally, but also extremely rewarding. Be prepared to get dirty, leave sore, and feel rewarded by days spent outside with our trees and animals.Day-to-day expect to start with animal chores (we have chickens, pigs, rabbits, and goats) and move on to tasks such as orchard care, harvesting, planting trees, and helping to improve infrastructure such as irrigation for the rest of the day. Basic knowledge of tools is a huge bonus.

Pay starts at $15/hr and is commensurate with experience.
