ORBCOMM Hiring for Software QA Engineer at Ottawa, ON Full Time

A little bit about the role:
ORBCOMM’s Software Quality Assurance department is a high performing and highly motivated group of professionals that prides itself on delivering results. The Software Quality Assurance team is currently looking for an individual that possesses a team-oriented attitude, having solid communication skills, with an attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of broad tasks.

ORBCOMM is evolving its automated test methodology and is looking for an individual that can help shape our automation efforts. Potential candidates will work closely with software and firmware development engineers and be responsible creating and executing test plans, running fault analysis, and ensuring the overall quality of our devices, back-end, and front-end system components. Responsibilities:

• Retrieve and review requirements and design specifications
• Create, own, and execute the test plans and test cases derived from the requirements and design specifications to ensure overall product quality
• Design and develop automated system test suites to be added to our regression framework
• Isolate, replicate, and report technical problems and/or issues
• Identify efficiencies to improve test time, test coverage, and quality

Must-have Skills:

• A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Proficiency in automated testing; experience with Python or equivalent
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• A demonstrated ability to work within a fast-paced environment, collaborate closely with teammates and show an ambition for achieving results
• Familiarity with web services such as SOAP, REST, JSON

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Experience using automated test tools such as PyTest, Jenkins, Selenium, shell scripting
• Experience with source control (SVN, Visual Studio Team Foundation, Gitlab, etc.)
• Experience working with and automation of hardware test and measurement equipment (multi-meters, power supplies, etc.) using LXI, GPIB and/or RS232
• Experience in the Satellite Communication industry or in the Telecommunication field
• An understanding of SQL and a working knowledge of Oracle and/or MariaDB databases
• Familiarity working with Unix/Linux environments
