Job/Responsibilities

Reporting to the Management Account this position is responsible for providing accounting and financial services support to the finance team as part of integrated planning and reporting. This includes:

• Support Council’s Management Accountant in the timely production of Council’s Annual Delivery and Operational Plan, and their respective quarterly reviews
• Allocate all income received via EFT to the relevant accounts and ensure that all necessary processes have occurred. Determine if a paid search through the banking channels is warranted for unidentified entries in the bank account.
• Carry out monthly bank reconciliations and prepare the necessary report for the finance policy meeting of Council
• Maintain Council’s General Ledger, and Work Order Ledger structures as required an in accordance with the determined protocols
• Monthly/Annual reconciliations include plan first, companion animals and various suspense accounts as deemed necessary to fulfil any audit or internal control obligations

So what do you need?

• Bachelor of Business (Accounting), or nearing completion of, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience with accounting packages
• A demonstrated ability to analyse and report on financial data
• A thorough understanding of Local Government in NSW or capacity to rapidly acquire this knowledge
• Current Class C Drivers Licence
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
