WHAT WE DO:

Moving people from crisis to stability, OHRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential services to low income, and unhoused community members. We are opening our new facility, called The OHRA Center in Ashland, Oregon, from which we will operate a 53-bed temporary shelter, as well as our resource center, and our organization’s headquarters.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for basic accounting and providing support to the team.

Key Roles: (Essential Job Responsibilities):

The Responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist include, but are not limited to:

Transactional Responsibilities:

• Timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, check requests, and credit card expenditures
• Reviewing all invoices and credit card expenditures for appropriate documentation and approval, prior to payment
• Ensuring invoices are properly coded
• Answering questions from vendors and clients
• Maintaining vendor files
• Maintaining W-9s and preparing 1099s
• Assisting in month-end closing
• Maintaining files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Perform special projects as requested
• Assists in preparation of monthly Finance reports
• Assists in yearly third-party audits

Relationships:

• Internal: Maintain excellent rapport with supervisor, staff, colleagues, vendors, volunteers, community members and others.

REQUIRED:

Education, Training, and Experience

• Degree in accounting or finance or a related field with responsible work experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position.

• Solid math and analytical skills

• Thorough understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.

Related Work Experience:

• 3 – 5 years of finance and accounting experience, including finance, accounting, audit, and analysis (including gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to management and external stakeholders).

• Nonprofit experience, including fund/grants accounting, preferred.
• 3 years minimum QuickBooks experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Experienced with Microsoft office.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks online

• Excellent Excel skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environments:

• Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment.
• Frequently lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 30 pounds when moving supplies.
• Typically stands, bends, stoops and crouches.
• Regularly moves about the facility to coordinate work.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
