Optimum Solutions (OptSol LLC) is seeking a Staff Accountant for our client in Washington, DC. This is a contract-to-hire position, paying $25 per hour during contract period, and $55,000 annually plus benefits. This is a Remote position. The hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This assignment is with a great Non-Profit This opportunity is scheduled to start immediately.

Job Descriptions:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for day to day fiscal maintenance for the company by executing timely and accurate entry of transactions while maintaining financial integrity and compliance to GAAP. This role will also work closely with Human Resources and other administrative staff for coordination and policy compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Staff Accountant will report to the CFO and HR Manager
• Maintain general ledger system using QuickBooks
• Maintain and monitor control procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are thoroughly reviewed, coded and supported by adequate documentation
• Manage daily cash reconciliation between banking and internal reporting
• Manage accounts payable, including entering and processing invoices for payment in addition to monthly credit card and petty cash reconciliations
• Manage accounts receivable functions including invoices, coding deposits, and reconciling revenue
• Prepare financial statements and analytical and hoc reports
• Assist company independent auditors by preparing financial reports and schedules, and addressing all inquires
• Provide occasional support to the HR staff
• Periodically run cost-benefits analysis
• Provide periodic analysis of case data and assist in preparation of internal and external reports using company Case Management System, PCDCMS
• Carry out other projects, as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in in Accounting preferred; once year of accounting or bookkeeping experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets, MS Word and QuickBooks)
• Interpersonal skills
• Maintains confidentiality
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and has excellent grammar and proofreading skills; presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information)
• Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans; meets deadlines and adheres to specific time lines; tracks multiple processes to meet goals for timelines
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality of own work while upholding office policies and procedures
• Adapts to changes in environment, handles several projects concurrently; is able to deal with frequent changes/delays or unexpected events
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully
• Displays willingness to make timely decisions; exhibits high-level sound and accurate judgement
• Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences and promotes a harassment-free environment
