Opsydia Limited Hiring for Junior Software Engineer Job at Oxford, England Full Time

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to help us scale our next-generation laser processing platform.

With a strong focus on security, automation and connectivity, software is integral to Opsydia’s systems. Our first deployed product, the D5000, utilises optical techniques to write internal IDs inside diamonds, supporting traceability initiatives for ethical supply chains. Built as a security instrument, it prioritises the operator by incorporating machine vision, automation and connectivity for remote operation and support.

To achieve high throughput and reliable production processes we design and build bespoke control software for our industrial laser systems. This involves integrating and controlling high-precision hardware components, developing algorithms employing computer vision and neural networks, and deploying secure computer architectures.

THE ROLE

Working as part of our growing software development team you will have the opportunity to experience different aspects of software development, as well as working on the infrastructure that makes it possible.

We focus on teamwork and innovation, and in this role we would encourage you to contribute to the research and project development work taking place across the Company, to broaden your skills and experience and to tailor this around the areas that you are most interested in.

Some of the tasks and projects that you would be involved in are:-

• Complex laser marking systems and the software to drive them
• Cloud based infrastructure for systems
• Tools to support research and development
• Complex control algorithm including machine vision

ABOUT YOU

While we require you to have development experience in at least one modern programming language, you will either be a recent graduate in a related subject (where it is not necessary to have had any professional experience – experience from personal or academic projects would be sufficient), or have had a couple of years professional experience within a software or related role.

You should have the willingness and ability to quickly learn new skills as they are needed for the different projects you will be involved in. The role will require you to be comfortable working on your own as well as working with people from different teams within the company.

You will be able to demonstrate that you have the following:-

• Development experience in at least one modern programming language
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent recent work experience

You may also have:-

• Experience of hardware based systems
• Experience in some of the following:
  • C#, C++, Dart, or Python.
  • OpenCV or other machine vision libraries.
  • TensorFlow or other machine learning libraries.
  • Version control.
  • Asynchronous programming.
  • Network configuration.
  • Cloud services and virtual machines.

This is a full-time role but we would consider applications from those seeking to work on a part-time basis. We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, although you would need to be able to spend some time in the office (anticipated to be around 60% of working time on average).

As part of the recruitment process there will be a technical interview. A selected candidate will be required to undergo security screening to BS7858.
