Open Studio Hiring for Virtual Residency Coordinator Assistant at Toronto, ON Full Time

Open Studio is seeking a Coordinator Assistant to act as the creative arts administrator supporting a new virtual residency program, made possible through the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Now Fund. The Coordinator Assistant will be responsible for workshop development and outreach, working closely with the Artistic Coordinator, Laura Grier (she/they) and Open Studio staff to manage scheduling and associated administrative duties for the duration of this residency [completion expected in June 2022].

Pay Rate: $35/hour, part-time/contract, totaling 270 hours

Location: 401 Richmond Street West, Suite 104, Toronto, ON, M5V 3A8

Job Type: Part-time; reduced hours in Dec, an average of 10 hours/week starting Jan 2022, in-person and remote work

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize residency planning logistics such as planning online meetings and scheduling in-person sessions, working closely with the Studio & Education Manager
• Assist with communications and messaging, working collaboratively with the Artistic Coordinator and the Programming & Communication Manager
• Help program an online presence for each participating artist [web, social media etc.]
• Assist with artwork documentation, record retention and planning for any exhibition-related programming, working collaboratively with the Curator & Collections Manager
• Provide administrative support as needed

Skills and Experience

• Experience in arts administration and educational programming
• Experience coordinating online events and virtual learning sessions
• Proficient in managing multiple schedules and deadlines
• Familiarity with social media platforms and expanding online engagement
• Experience digitizing artworks utilizing photography equipment and editing software [familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite would be beneficial]
• Familiar with Mac computers, Google Drive, Microsoft Office
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to cultivate partnerships
• Self-directed, able to work as a team member in a small, open and busy environment
• Knowledge and respect for diverse aesthetic, cultural and ideological points of view and the ability to facilitate a productive exchange
