Summary:

Open Minds Early School, a Spanish immersion preschool based on the Reggio Emilia approach, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team. We are a 6-year-old school located in Oakland, California, and we believe in the child as a capable and curious learner who is capable of constructing their own knowledge. The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment for children ages 2 to 5.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the Lead Teacher in the planning and implementation of daily activities and curriculum
• Supporting children’s learning and development through observation, assessment, and documentation
• Creating a positive and stimulating learning environment through the use of natural materials, open-ended activities, and hands-on learning experiences
• Assisting in the preparation of materials and equipment for activities
• Communicating effectively with parents and other staff members
• Maintaining a safe and clean classroom environment
• Participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children in a preschool setting
• Strong understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach
• Ability to speak Spanish fluently
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Positive and patient attitude towards children and their families
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Must meet state licensing requirements for assistant teachers
