Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General Hiring for Data Management Technical Lead at North Bay, ON Full Time

The Justice Technology Services, Common Cluster Solutions Branch is looking for a data management expert with strong communication skills and technical ability to lead the collection of data asset information and support our Ministry’s data management and governance teams.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Data Management Technical Lead, you will:

• Lead and/or coordinate the delivery of technical components required to support the Ministry’s Data Management Programs.
• Maintain and administer the Justice Sector Data Catalogue and Business Glossary, which supports the Justice Sector’s Data Management Program.
• Initiate and maintain ongoing business relationships with Ministry Program Areas and other support organizations.
• Develop training material and deliver training sessions to Ministry Program Areas and other stakeholders regarding Data Management practices, standards, and instruction regarding the use of Data Management software and technologies.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership in the evaluation of the data management processes and software for continuous improvement.
• Create reports and analyses of the data management processes and the use of the Justice Sector Data

Catalogue and Business Glossary.

• Conduct research of innovations and emerging trends in data management and analytics to inform and support the development of ministry’s data management and analytical methodologies and standards.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills:You have:

• Knowledge of accepted data management practices and functional framework (i.e., DMBOK, etc.).
• Knowledge of databases, data models and data management technologies.
• Knowledge and experience working with large datasets containing millions of data points.
• Knowledge of Ministry technologies and technological plans/directions.
• Knowledge of legislation and directives governing,: I&IT, access, security, privacy and client business activities.
• Knowledge of systems analysis, design, development, integration, testing, implementation methods and technology solutions.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:You have:

• Demonstrated experience performing technical evaluations of data management software to recommend improvements.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting to resolve data quality issues.
• Demonstrated experience leading analysis of proposed systems solutions and supporting the preparation of IT business cases.
• Demonstrated experience researching innovations and emerging trends in data management.

Consultation, Interpersonal, and Communication Skills:You have:

• Communication skills to provide training, prepare reports and deliver presentations.
• Interpersonal skills to explain the use of data management software to non-technical ministry personnel.
• Consultation skills to provide advice to clients on solution/applications and provide recommendations to senior management.

Project Management and Leadership Skills:You have:

• Knowledge of IT project management policies and procedures, including budgeting and financial administration, in order to lead projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing concurrent projects of varying size and impact and providing guidance to clients.
• Demonstrated experience providing leadership and guidance in developing Data Management policies and procedures.
