The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Senior Rents Finance Officer. Although this is a senior position, this role does not carry any line management responsibilities.

This is a well establish successful team who work collaboratively to ensure the smooth processes of rent debits for all its subsidiaries, maintaining transactions and posting journals to the accounts ledgers. This team is also responsible for reconciling rent controls, bank and other control accounts, and manage the administration of the organisations’ Direct Debits.

Salary: £28,000 and £35,000 per annum.
Location: Hybrid Style (3 days based within our Camden Head Office / 2 days remote)

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining accuracy of the transactional data within the Housing Management system (UH), through the processing of payments, adjustments and rent debit by the Finance Officers – Rents.
• Taking preventative steps to minimise the number of items in rent suspense; maintaining breakdowns of transactions and taking action to ensure items are cleared on a weekly basis.
• Liaising with internal and external parties to ensure that appropriate documentation to enable processing is received in an efficient and timely manner.
• Responsibility for Bad Debt Provision calculation and journal.
• Reconciling the Sponsors Accounts.
• Various balance sheet and system control account reconciliations (including Bank Reconciliations).
• Compiling reports for aspects of rent accounting, working with colleagues to develop accurate KPl’s.

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for someone who believes in working together as part of a team, who shares our values and who is positive and friendly.

The successful candidate will:

• Have worked within senior financial role with a Rents Finance team within a housing association / local authority setting.
• Possess advanced experience of transaction processing and intermediate experience with reconciliations.
• Be experienced in communicating and dealing with external stakeholders such as DWP, Housing Benefits, Universal Credits, HMRC, auditors and internal senior management and colleagues.
• Possess the ability to analyse and interpret financial and statistical information.
• Be confident in challenging and validating transactional detail.
• Be confident in forging good relationships with other BAU areas and external partners, be happy with working alongside our senior management team including OHG Directors.
