About the Role

Would you like to use your intimate knowledge of cancer to help others navigate through their experience? Are you empathetic, organized, and possess strong customer service skills? The Oncology Peer Mentor Role is a fully remote, flexible part-time job opportunity or those who are at least one year post active treatment. For several hours a week (minimum of 6 hours) you can leverage the experience of your cancer diagnosis and treatment to help others who are currently coping with cancer.

Use our telehealth portal to communicate with members via chat, video, and phone visits

Help connect members with internal clinical services

Offer and provide evidence-based information and resources from a vetted resource library

Comfort in sharing your personal cancer experience with others within a patient-facing telehealth product

Provide support and empathy to engaged members in a compassionate and non-directive, individualized guided manner, while maintaining professional boundaries

Maintain standards of documentation with each member using our digital platform.

Work collaboratively with an internal interdisciplinary team by facilitating referrals, triaging higher level issues to others, and following up on escalated issues to optimize the member’s experience.

Complete training responsibilities and maintain awareness of internal protocols and standard operating procedures and available resources through regularly scheduled training

About You

Personal experience as a cancer patient/survivor having completed your cancer treatments

Comfortable sharing your personal cancer experience with other people living with cancer

Ability to listen to others with empathy without giving specific advice

Willingness to work as part of a clinical team and ask for support as needed

Comfort level with helping members navigate the OncoHealth telehealth portal

Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience preferred

Experience and or working knowledge of healthcare system / patient care preferred

Exceptional taskmaster, follow through, and self-initiative

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to set and maintain appropriate personal boundaries

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Extremely comfortable, efficient, and effective using mobile phones. Proficient in the use of web-based tools and information sources

100% Remote. Living in the Eastern or Central Time Zones is helpful but not required

Our Current Solutions

Through the use of OncoHealth’s utilization management system, OneUM, our customers can use a single e-Prior Authorization portal for all oncology drug request and treatments. Our system improves quality of care, reduces provider abrasion and gives health plans visibility into the total cost of oncology treatment.

OncoHealth offers Oncology Insights Pro, an analytic software solution that enables health plans to use data and analytics to improve oncology programs. Using real world data, our engineers normalize data to create analytic dashboards with drill down compatibilities. The data is the paired with expert guidance providing the strategies an insight needed to keep up with the continuing evolving cancer treatment landscape.

OncoHealth offers Pharmacy Consulting services to health plans and pharmaceutical companies. New cancer treatments are entering the market at an unrelenting pace. Since 2018, the FDA approved 121 new cancer applications including 49 novel cancer drug entities. Our Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacologists can help health plans update drug policies, offer utilization management and formulary advice, and development training for staff.
