As an Adult Education Teacher, you will plan, organize and implement appropriate instructional practices and strategies; specifically those endorsed by Ombudsman, in a learning environment that guides and encourages academic development, fulfillment, and success. The Adult Education Teacher must effectively use curricular resources and delivery methods to promote achievement and foster engagement in the learning process; as well as ensure a safe learning environment, following guidelines for addressing and/or ing issues and incidents.

‖ Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering instruction, through the use of curriculum materials and educational software.
• Utilizing instructional strategies and practices including, but not limited to, computer assisted instruction, teacher led instruction, and small group collaboration.
• Developing daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that reflects state and school requirements.
• Collaborating with fellow teachers and education support staff to provide instructional support and approved modification to the curriculum.
• Maintaining classroom standards to ensure a safe, secure and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations and consistency.

This position operates with general direction from the program director and functions as an integral part of the Ombudsman team in supporting and implementing Ombudsman and Chancelight initiatives.

‖ Qualifications Required:

• Associate degree or higher in education or a related field.
• Meet state teacher licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Prior experience working in an alternative education program setting.
• Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, decision.
• Knowledge and understanding of state and/or national content standards.
• Well-versed in relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
