Omar D Blair Charter School Hiring for 6-8 Intervention Teacher Full Time

Omar D. Blair Charter School is a K-8 Charter School located in the Far Northeast of Denver. The vision is for “every scholar to be educated, empowered, and ready for continued success.”

Job Summary:

The 6-8 Intervention Teacher is responsible for supporting scholar achievement in the area of literacy growth, with special attention to reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and writing. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to scholars who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, ing, and communicating student progress and performance. All teachers will have a personal lunch, personal and common planning, data analysis, professional development, and coaching.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Colorado Teaching License

• Bachelor’s degree in Education

• Certification or credentials for the science of reading preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of teaching literacy preferred

• Desire to teach in an urban public or charter school setting

• Previous experience managing and creating READ Plans (optional)

• Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups

• Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level

• Develop lesson plans that include best practices for individual and small groups of scholars

• Implement high, clear expectations to manage scholar behavior

• Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs

• Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress

• Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress

• Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress

• Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups

• Participates in meetings with teachers, admin, and families to discuss scholar placement and progress

• Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed

• Provides input for program development

• Creates READ Plans in collaboration with with Literacy, Special Education and MLE teachers

• Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems

• Engage in professional development and collaborative planning

• Performs other duties as assigned by administration

• Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player

• Model of high standard of professionalism and commitment to school values

• Working knowledge of proactive communication with colleagues about scholar needs to ensure integrated support

• Maintain confidentiality for scholars and families as necessary
