Job Description
The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for working with design and systems engineers in the development and execution of a testing strategy to verify and/or characterize systems or subsystems for medical equipment used in operating rooms or specialty suites. The test strategy may consist of both manual and automated testing. A primary responsibility of this role will be to develop automatic test stations that will be used throughout development for characterization, verification, and calibration of systems and subsystems. This person will be responsible for ensuring the design and validation of the test system is well documented and complies with all internal procedures.
Job Duties
- Responsible for the generation and execution of test strategies
- Responsible for developing automated test stations which includes defining requirements, selecting equipment, and developing test scripts/code
- Documenting the test station design
- Generating test protocols and s
- Validating the test system meets intended use.
- Works closely with design engineers to understand systems and subsystems in order to develop appropriate tests.
- Identifies appropriate test equipment.
- Works with internal or external design resources for custom test components
- Performs gauge R&R studies.
- Acts as a consultant to manufacturing.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum year of related experience: 5+ years or 4+ years with MS or 0-2 years with PhD.
- Experience Labview
- Knowledgeable with C/C++
- Proficient with many types of test equipment: oscilloscopes, digitizers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.
- Knowledge of FDA requirements, including 820CFR, ISO14971, IEC60601, GMP and other standards as they relate to the design and manufacture of medical devices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows environment, Outlook, excel, MS project, 3D CAD/CAM software
Preferred:
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic systems
- Experience performing statistical analysis
- Responsible for creation and critical review of engineering drawing and specification documentation.
- Strong problem solving skills. Uses good judgement and makes accurate data based decisions.
- Must able to collaborate with others and works well within cross-functional teams.
- Understands managing resources and is able to drive projects to completion, elevates concerns and roadblocks as required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Feels confident presenting in front of others.
- Embraces changes and can influence others as a change agent.
