JOB DESCRIPTION: Finance and Accounting Manager

Summary: The Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department; monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports or statements; operating established accounting methods, policies, and principles; and maintaining employee benefits programs.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

Financial Management

• Leads development of annual plans, including operating budget and financial projections

• Establishes and maintains reporting system for measuring business performance

• Facilitates periodic plan reviews and makes adjustments as conditions change

• Supports other managers in preparing department-specific plans and reports

• Oversees accounting and monitors cash flow

• Keeps owner(s) informed of potential issues

• Develops and maintains financial reports to facilitate decision-making

Human Resources

• Establishes procedures for hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and termination

• Develops and regularly updates employee policies

• Maintain Employee Files and update files accordingly

• Support onboarding and facilitation of employee benefits

• Monitor employee benefits for accuracy and completeness

• Ensure compliance with Colorado Labor Law practices

• Identifies training needs and seeks or creates opportunities

Risk Management

• Leads development of business contingency plans

• Develops systems for monitoring potential business risks and executes mitigation strategies

• Ensures business maintains adequate insurance coverage

Accounting Software Management

• Update and reconcile bank and credit card statements

• Communicate with Accounting Firm

• Manage Reports: P&L; Balance Sheet; Cash Flow

Accounts Receivable/Payable Management

• PO management; project budget reviews; project change order reviews in Construction Software program, Buildertrend

• Invoice creation; release of invoices to customers; follow up with customers

• Receive payments and process payments to all subcontractors and vendors

• Manage paperwork involved with processing accounts payable

Job Scope:

The Finance and Accounting Manager oversees the daily accounting and financial operations for Old Town Design Build, Inc. This position maintains the financial wellness and integrity of the organization. In addition, prepares reports for company leads, and develop/support standards and processes for proper financial management, IT (outsourced) and administrative staff, and reports to the company owner(s); as lead of one of the company’s major business functions, this position is part of the leadership team and has responsibility for contributing to major business decision-making.

• Knowledge of best practice methods for budgeting and monitoring business financial performance

• Knowledge of state and federal laws regulating employment policies and practices

• Knowledge of best practice methods for business planning and performance monitoring

• Knowledge of best practice methods in change management

• Knowledge of best practice methods in human performance management

• Skilled at facilitating team discussions, including senior leaders who may have conflicting ideas about company goals and priorities

• Skilled at using software programs that support the development of budgets and other financial planning and reporting requirements

• Skilled at preparing visuals to aid communication of ideas

• Skilled at setting pace for implementing new processes and procedures

• Skilled at developing systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of repeatable tasks

• Ability to prepare cash flow prediction and revenue projection models based on historical data, present business performance and future goals

• Ability to recognize and/or anticipate future training needs of company employees

• Ability to think critically in order to solve complex problems

• Ability to predict, prioritize, and plan for the future

• Ability to conceptualize, strategize, and systematize how to accomplish goals and objectives

• Ability to motivate others

Other Qualifications:

• Exceptional mathematical skills

• Proficient in Quickbooks

• Proficiency with computers and software.

• High level of efficiency and accuracy

• Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data

• Experience working in small business setting

• Experience with construction industry

• Ability to facilitate payroll desired, but not required

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience in management role, preferably in construction-related setting. Demonstrated experience with preparing budgets and financial reports, leading development and implementation of strategic and business contingency plans, and facilitating human resource requirements. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or construction management or related field required; MBA preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,800.00 – $83,200.00 per year
