Job Description
The Patton College of Education is hiring an Assistant Professor, Higher Education, tenure-track.
The position requires teaching graduate courses in Higher Education, advising masters and doctoral students, and supporting our programs through research and service activities. Teaching responsibilities may involve the areas of Organization and Governance of Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, Higher Education Law and Faculty Issues. The appointee will be expected to maintain a strong record of scholarship, preferably with an emphasis on the areas of teaching responsibility. A number of courses will be taught to masters and doctoral cohort groups on the Athens and regional campuses. Consideration will be given to candidates offering a diverse set of experience and educational backgrounds while also aligning with the department’s and college’s academic goals; and those with research and teaching interests in: faculty, organizational issues, law, policy, and differing institutional types (e.g., community colleges, minority serving institutions). Our ideal candidate will have a commitment to mentoring and advising students with varied interests and career aspirations; a sense of collegiality and working collaboratively with colleagues and students; and a background working in higher education and/or student affairs-related positions.

The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Counseling and Higher Education is accepting applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor position with expertise in higher education and/or student affairs. The position will begin August 16, 2023 and is located in Athens, OH.

Minimum Qualifications
- Required qualifications include: Earned doctorate in Higher Education, Student Affairs or a related field by 8/1/23 (foreign educational equivalent acceptable)
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., a course evaluations) at the university level across one or more domains (e.g., face-to-face, online, executive format)
- Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g. published articles, book chapters, books, and/or professional conference presentations)
