Investment Analyst – Private Equity – Downtown Columbus, Ohio

We are currently seeking an Investment Analyst to become an integral member of our Private Equity area. This close-knit group of investment professionals manages a portfolio worth approximately $13 billion in private equity funds.

What you’ll do

• Actively engage with seasoned professionals who value inititative, creative solutions, and intellectual curiousity
• Perform analysis of portfolio performance and attribution (calculation of internal rates of returns, total value to paid in, and quartile rankings) and develop reports for Staff and/or Board of Trustees
• Support our Portfolio Managers in underwriting new investment opportunities, provide support for the execution of new investments and may perform on-site visits and reference calls
• Assists with developing portfolio insights, analyzing portfolio construction, making investment recommendations, and creating associated presentations
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of portfolio managers, administer portfolio activity including partnership legal requests, cash flows, reports from external managers, and advisory committees/annual meetings
• Assure the reliability and integrity of data sources and learn/maintain the software, databases, and data sources used in the portfolio management process, including Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and other management programs
• Develop an understanding of legal reviews of prospective and current investments and the negotiation of key business and legal terms.
• Develop and communicate information regarding portfolio performance through written and verbal opinions
• Interact with internal and external parties, including general and limited partners, consultants, intermediaries, internal legal counsel, and Investment Accounting

What you’ll bring

• A Bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s or MBA being preferred
• At least 3 years of experience in an investment or investment-related role
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage and complete time sensitive tasks and projects
• Develop a thorough understanding of current investment activities and investment terminology
• Inquisitiveness, a love of learning and the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally
• Outstanding Excel skills including the ability to create pivot tables and use the v-Lookup function, as well as PC proficiency and strong MS Office experience including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• The CFA or CAIA is strongly preferred
• The ability to become licensed as a State Retirement System Investment Officer (SRSIO) within six month of hire and to abide by the OPERS Personal Trading Policy is required
