This is an excellent career move to be part of Ofgem’s Digital Solutions and Services which provides software development and support services to a number of environmental and social energy schemes. It presents an opportunity to develop your expertise, working with the latest technology to develop and maintain apps that support the delivery of these high profile schemes.

It’s a role that will suit an individual who enjoys using technology to work through problems. You’ll need proven expertise in a number of technologies, including:

• Microsoft .NET (C#)
• SQL Server

You should be accustomed to working according to Agile principles and have a good understanding of unit testing frameworks. And your technical know-how should be backed by a commitment to developing your skills and knowledge. Working in a flexible environment it’s important that you can take responsible for your own workload, and delivering against agreed deadlines.

The Delivery and Schemes directorate delivers green energy and social schemes on behalf of the Government. Our expertise lies in designing, setting up and delivering large scale environmental schemes in the sustainable energy sector.

To work within a formal team structure to support business applications to the requirements of Ofgem.

To follow a path of personal development in order to progress with Ofgem’s software Development Team.

Ensuring that business applications developed, internally and externally, are technically and functionally suitable for Ofgem.

Within the context of DSSD, the purpose of this role is:

• To develop, and support applications to scheme requirements, within a formal team structure.
• To work closely with the Project Manager, providing a technical and application perspective throughout the project lifecycle.
• To suggest and implement improvements to the application development process, such as continuous integration, automation of build, deploy and test etc.

Responsibilities

• To work as part of a team with Developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Automation Testers, and the IT Infrastructure team to develop and deliver functionality for key Ofgem business applications.
• Ensuring that business applications developed, internally and externally, are technically and functionally suitable for Ofgem.
